Apartments
The building process of our project in the Village im Dritten is currently ongoing and we’ll move in in late summer of 2025. The house is full and we are not actively looking for cohabitants.
However, if you are interested in an apartment in the long term, please write to mitmachen@vis-a-wien.at and we will be happy to put you on our list of interested parties.
Coop
In addition to potential housemates, we also welcome ideas for cooperation, interest in our commercial spaces, or simply general questions, curiosity and ideas.
Simply write us an email (mitmachen@vis-a-wien.at), or subscribe to our newsletter for ongoing information – like project updates or events.
Criteria
- We need people who have the same vision and can help us make it a reality.
- We want to avoid the bubble: We look forward to people who are different in terms of age, origin, education, history, background, mindset, profession, lifestyle, etc. and people who can particularly benefit from the community.
- Interpersonal relationships and the ability to work in a team are important to us.
- We need motivated members who participate at their own discretion.
A colourful multigenerational home
Generally, we are looking for people who are passionate about the ideas of the housing community and share its vision. We have the goal of breaking out of the proverbial bubble and creating a sustainable social mix that reflects the overall society within our neighbourhood/community.
Financial Engagement
vis-à-what’s the cost?
This summary serves as an initial overview of the topic of costs and contributions.
Interested parties will receive further information and details on the costs and contributions during the introductory and admission process.
Costs towards the Verein/association
- As a regular club member, membership fees of €15.00* per month must be paid.
- There is also a joining fee of currently (expansion in 2024) €2000.00* when joining the club.
- For continued solvency, we rely on private loans to the club. We would like €5,000* per person. This will be collected from members and is also planned for the future.
- In addition, club members give €4,750* when moving in to set up the common rooms.
Costs as a resident
- Based on the cooperative model, there is a financial contribution, which is due when moving in and is refunded when moving out. The amount is between €350-450* per m² and depends on the construction costs.
- Rent is due from the time you move in, which according to current calculations – including operating costs – should be around €13.50*.
* The figures mentioned are based on current estimates and are subject to change. In addition, the estimates do not necessarily take into account a potential energy crisis or a sudden possible increase in construction costs.
General information on finance and law
- The building belongs to a non-profit developer, the club is the general tenant of our building.
- The income limits for subsidized housing can be found at wien.gv.at.
- Do you own a home in Vienna? If so, there are a few things to consider!
- We want to take the house off the market. The apartments will always be rental apartments and never objects of speculation.
Beteiligung & Organisation
We are an association; organized sociocratically. Our interest groups are:
- Architecture
- Community & organisation
- Sharing & operations
- Finance & law
- IT, publicity & media
- Solidarity
It is a lot of work and commitment and motivation are required. Depending on the group, members have several meetings (in person or online) per month, with individual life situations being taken into account. Time and resources must be planned in principle.
